There can be funny episodes about Data trying to be human (and Spock trying not to be) (and Odo not wanting to be) (and Seven of Nine because “our ratings are sagging”), and happy endings, especially at the end of the first episode of the next season, but there were a lot of times when things just didn’t resolve happily.

It’s full of thoughts and observations about our world, the one we live in, and the reflections are not always happy. But it’s about humans in space, and the other species they meet. There can be technical explanations that don’t make sense to us, and ultimately it’s still the most interesting when the technology augments the people, the human element. But it’s always the best when it’s science fiction, proper science fiction. Star Trek is obviously still my favorite just look at my bookshelf.
